Introduction

A research brief, not yet the MOOC episode. It asks why Chinese private universities face market and policy pressure to innovate, and how leadership in that pressure is distributed — not only held in a dean’s office, but practiced across academic roles.

The paper it briefs is Teacherpreneurship as a Meta-Skill for Transformational Leadership: conceptualization and validation. The department has also used the idea in public dialogue, including the Payap EL Teacherpreneurship Dialogue of 29 October 2026, three days after the lab opened.

Teacherpreneurship, in this line of work, is not a side hustle. It is a meta-skill: the capacity to see an educational problem, assemble people and a prototype, and carry a change without waiting for a perfect structure. That is design thinking inside an academic appointment.

Episode 2 of the MOOC returns to the same question with the four domains drawn explicitly, and with the figure the episode cites: 654 matched educator responses. Watch this brief for the argument; watch the episode for the teaching version.
